Birth & Death Certificates

Birth Certificate

Birth certificates are on file at the City Clerks office if the individual was born within the City of Mechanicville. A certified copy can be requested for $10 each.


Death Certificate

A Death Certificate is filed in the City Clerk's office if the deceased was pronounced dead within the City of Mechanicville. The funeral director is responsible for filing the Death Certificate with the City Clerk. Certified copies can be requested for $10 each.


Marriage Certificate

A Marriage Certificate is issued after the City Clerk's office receives the marriage license back from the officiate. Certified copies can be requested for $10 each.


Genealogical

Please note this $10.00 charge is only for these records within 50 years. Records older than 50 years is a genealogical search and is an $11.00 fee.


How Do I Get a Copy of a Birth or Death Certificate?

Certified copies of Birth and/or Death certificates can be requested in person at the Commissioner of Accounts/City Clerk's Office at 36 North Main St. Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Certified copies can also be requested by mail. The written request should contain the name of the individual, date of birth / date of death, parents' names, number of copies requested, a copy of driver license of person making the request and a check or money order made payable to City of Mechanicville and can be sent to:
