Free Trees for Mechanicville!
Capital Roots is partnering with the City of Mechanicville and the Mechanicville District Public Library to bring free trees to homes and properties this fall, with planting anticipated around November 4, 2026. Capital Roots has been active in urban forestry and community greening since 1989, and their staff will handle everything from selecting the right species to delivering and planting the trees with the help of local volunteers. If you're interested in having a tree planted on your property, submit a request by following the prompts on the flyer below. It's a simple way to add some green to the neighborhood while helping the community grow a little cooler, cleaner, and more beautiful for years to come.

Enjoy a peaceful, paved trail perfect for walking, jogging, and biking. This scenic 2.5-mile section runs from Elizabeth Street to Coons Crossing Road, offering great views, birdwatching, and easy access to the longer Champlain Canalway Trail. Great for all ages and skill levels!
