Overview

The Mechanicville Fire Department proudly serves the City of Mechanicville, New York, located in Saratoga County. We serve approximately 5,200 people living in an area of 1 square mile. We operate 1 engine tanker, 1 engine, 1 tower ladder, 1 utility vehicle and 1 boat out of 1 station that protect both residential and commercial properties. This area includes approximately 2,350 residences and over 1 mile of river front along the Hudson River.

The services that we offer include fire suppression, search and rescue, auto extrication, water rescue, service calls and mutual aid to several neighboring communities.  Our members respond to nearly 800 alarms each year and participate in several hours of training each week.  We have an ISO rating of 4.

The Mechanicville Fire Department delivers fire prevention and education for the Mechanicville Public Schools as well as dozens of day cares and other organizations.  Additionally, the department participates in numerous community events such as Mechanicville Family Day, Whitewater Derby, Duck Derby, Feast of the Assumption and the Cystic Fibrosis Sports Challenge.

Being an all volunteer department, we are actively accepting new members for all types of duties. These include: fire suppression personnel, vehicle operators, emergency medical technicians, exterior personnel and auxiliary members. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer and serving your community, applications may be obtained at the Central Fire Station on Wednesday nights after 6:30 and the second Thursday of each month at 7:00pm.
