CITY OF MECHANICVILLE SNOW EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

A Snow Emergency will be declared by the City of Mechanicville when there is a snowfall resulting in 3 inches of snow or more. The following rules will be deemed to be in effect immediately during a snow emergency.

When a snow emergency goes into effect it is mandatory that you move your vehicle to the EVEN numbered side of the street. No parking is allowed on the odd numbered side of the street for the first 24 hours. Parking there will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. Plows will proceed to plow on the odd side of the street for that 24-hour period. Example: Even side parking means even house numbers such as 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 50,100 and so forth.

After 24 hours from the start of the snow emergency residents must move to the odd side of the street for the next 24-hour period. No parking allowed on the even side of the street. Parking there will result in your vehicle being ticketed and towed. (At this point plows will plow the even side of the street for that 24-hour period.)

When signs are in place for snow removal they will supersede all parking rules including posted signs.

Your cooperation is not only mandatory but also crucial to the City being able to plow, salt and remove snow from the streets.

Any vehicle interfering with the removal of snow by not parking on the correct side of the street will be subject to Towing at the owners expense and fine for failure to do so.
