Automatic Snow Emergency Declaration 

On February 2, 2011, the Mechanicville City Council passed a local ordinance (Ordinance 2011-1) amending Section 183-22 of the City Code. It now reads:

“A snow emergency in the City of Mechanicville shall become automatic two (2) hours after the accumulation of snow within the City reaches three (3) inches. The three-inch snow level shall be officially measured by the Department of Public Works at the Public Works Complex, located at the City Industrial Park, Mechanicville, New York. The Commissioner of Public Works or his representative shall notify the Mechanicville Police Department and the news media that a snow emergency is in effect.”

This ordinance took effect immediately.

Parking Rules During a Snow Emergency 

When a snow emergency is declared, the following rules are mandatory:

• First 24 hours: All vehicles must be parked on the even-numbered side of the street (house numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 50, 100, etc.). No parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side.
• Next 24 hours: Vehicles must be moved to the odd-numbered side of the street. No parking is allowed on the even-numbered side.

Important Information:

• Vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense.
• Any posted snow-removal signs take priority over all other parking rules (including this ordinance).
• Your cooperation is essential so that City crews can safely and efficiently plow, salt, and clear the streets.
