About Our Department
The Finance Department — officially the Office of Fiscal Management — is responsible for the financial affairs of the City of Mechanicville. We oversee all municipal expenditures and revenues, working in close partnership with the Mayor and all City Department Commissioners to uphold fiscal integrity and accountability on behalf of Mechanicville residents.
Our team is committed to the responsible stewardship of public funds, ensuring that every dollar is managed in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in municipal finance.
Responsibilities
The Finance Department provides the following core services to the City:
- Annual budget preparation and administration
- Revenue collection and management
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll processing for all City employees
- Financial reporting and annual audits
- Grant financial management and compliance
- Procurement oversight
- Fiscal policy development and implementation
- Debt management and bond administration
- Coordination with the NYS Office of the State Comptroller
