Housing Authority Board of Commissioners

The Mechanicville Housing Authority (MHA) Board of Commissioners provides governance and oversight for the Mechanicville Housing Authority, an independent public agency dedicated to providing safe, decent, and affordable housing for low- and moderate-income residents of our community. The Authority was established in 1951 pursuant to the laws of the State of New York to provide low-rent housing for qualified individuals in accordance with rules and regulations prescribed by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

About the Mechanicville Housing Authority

The Mechanicville Housing Authority provides stable, quality affordable housing opportunities for low- and moderate-income families throughout the local community. Through the provision of public housing apartments and the management of the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program, the Authority serves more than 180 low-income families and individuals, while supporting healthy communities.

The MHA operates two residential communities:

Davenport Estates — A 40-unit community located on Round Lake Avenue, with units designated for senior and disabled individuals as well as families.

John S. Moore — A 120-unit family community offering one- to four-bedroom apartments.

What the Board of Commissioners Does

The Authority is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners. The Board is responsible for:

• Setting policies and strategic direction for the Housing Authority
• Overseeing the Authority's finances, operations, and long-term planning
• Ensuring the MHA fulfills its mission in compliance with HUD regulations and New York State law
• Approving the Authority's annual plans, budgets, and major contracts
• Upholding fair housing principles and equal opportunity for all applicants and residents
